consume more calories each day than you burn off, chances are you’ll start to put on weight. Therefore, you need to closely monitor your daily calories. What You Should Know About Calories
To complement the above Krispy Kreme calories chart, here are some facts about calorie. Men need 2,000-3,000 calories per day, and women need 1,600-2,400 calories to remain at a healthy weight. Another good rule of thumb for weight maintenance is to take in 13-18 calories for each pound of body weight – this works out at around 2,080-2,880 daily calories for a 160-pound man and 1,560-2,160 daily calories for a 120-pound woman, although the exact amount depends on your exercise levels. For safe weight loss, a 1,200-to-1,600-calorie-daily diet plan is recommended for both men and women. Almost all of the calories come from three basic nutrients we get from our foods:
Protein
Around 10-35% of your food energy should be in the form of protein. Every gram of protein will give you about four calories, so to get 20% of your calories from protein, you need 100 grams (around 400 calories’ worth) of protein in a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet. The best sources of protein include poultry, seafood, lean meat, seitan, soy-based food, eggs, dairy products, seeds, legumes, and nuts. And as you can see from the above Krispy Kreme calories chart, donuts are really not a good source of protein!
Carbohydrate
You should get 45-65% of your calories each day from carbohydrates. In each gram of carbohydrate, there are four calories. Therefore, to calculate your daily carbs, multiply your recommended calorie intake by 0.45-0.65, then divide by four to get the grams. Select nutrient-dense carbohydrates that will fill you up. Good choices include whole grains, legumes, fruit, vegetables, low-fat yogurt, low-fat milk, seeds, and nuts. From the Krispy Kreme calories chart, you could see that frozen blends are especially carbohydrate-dense. And the majority of these carbohydrates come either from the fructose in fruits or from added table sugar.
Fat
Adults should aim for 20-35% daily calories from fat. For every gram of fat, there are nine calories. Therefore, to work out how much fat you need each day, take your daily calories requirement, times it by 0.2-0.35, and divide by nine. Fats are extremely calorie-dense, so you should take note that even though donuts contain less fat than carbohydrate, as the Krispy Kreme calories chart shows, fat in donuts is still the major calorie contributor. For your better health, always opt for unsaturated fats to cut the risk of heart disease. You can find these in nuts, seeds, hummus, vegetable oils, avocado, and oily fish.
